Wombat Bill leads the Native Animal Rescue Group’s bushfire response

The Native Animal Rescue Group – 24/7 NARG 4846-1900 (NARG) is based in Braidwood in the NSW Southern Tablelands.

NARG members are working tirelessly to support the region’s recovery from the terrible summer. Braidwood was under direct fire threat for several months, starting with the North Black Range bushfire in late November.

The fires destroyed NARG member’s property and wildlife care facilities and most of NARG’s wildlife release sites. Thousands of local animals were killed, injured or left hungry. Two NARG members were seriously injured.

Under the leadership of President Bill Waterhouse (pictured at Majors Creek Wombat Refuge), NARG are continuing to rescue, support feed and rehabilitate even as many wait to have their fences, facilities and homes repaired.

A Wildlife Heroes Bushfire Emergency Fund grant was awarded to NARG as a small gesture of support for what our #wildlifeheroes are going through.
