Initial Assessment of Wildlife in the Veterinary Clinic

The videos below were created by Byron Bay Wildlife Hospital as part of the Wildlife Friendly Vet campaign from the Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife. They are intended to provide guidance to general practice veterinarians and vet nurses in Australia in the initial assessment of native animals when they are admitted to the clinic.

Dr Bree Talbot uses real patient demonstrations to walk you through the assessment process, covering handling, physical assessment, common presentations, fluids, taking blood, anaesthesia, x-rays and recovery.
