Our wildlife matter

Our wildlife matter

My husband Scott left Victoria to help fire affected NSW, Jan 2020. Whilst he helped clear up after the blaze had gone through, I stayed behind to care for the wildlife we were raising for release.
Scott phoned when he got there and told me he had never seen anything like it in his life and the amount of dead animals on the side of the road had to be seen to be believed.
He said he didn’t know how our wildlife could recover from this and it hit him hard.
We always thought we were set up to “stay and defend” but what Scott saw made him realise how vulnerable we were/are.
There is no government funding for wildlife shelters and carers so to increase our own protection was going to be costly.
Scott first purchased several more water tanks and plumbed them all around the house when he returned.
This grant fitted Scott out completely with all the necessary PPE gear for bushfire.
He never wants to see our wildlife suffer like what he saw in NSW. Images he say will stay with him forever.
