WIRES member Elena has rescued and cared for Kangaroos and wallabies as well as many other species for over 30 years. Late last year New Italy was impacted by bushfires and Elena lost all of her cages and enclosures due to the fires. She managed to relocate and save all of the animals she had in care at the time.
A macropod nursery pen was constructed at Elena’s New Italy property for the purpose of raising kangaroos and wallabies, replacing the facility she had lost. It was finished in early January and her macropods were transferred back to that enclosure.
