28 Feb New Creche for Flying Foxes
Wildlife Animal Rescue and Care Society Inc (The Wildlife ARC) is very happy to announce that the construction of a new flying fox rehabilitation facility is underway!
Extreme heat events and food shortages linked to increasing levels of habitat destruction are having a devastating impact on flying fox populations across the country with thousands of animals dying each year and hundreds of injured and orphan flying-foxes coming into the care of Wildlife ARC volunteers. The new facility, on the NSW Central Coast, will increase the capacity of the Wildlife ARC to manage the increasing demand by providing specialist creche cages for orphaned pups as well as a large flight space that will assist in the rehabilitation of grey headed, black and little red flying foxes. Construction will be completed over the coming months in preparation for next summer. Wildlife ARC volunteers are deeply appreciative to the Wildlife Heroes Project supported by the Foundation for National Parks and Wildlife.
