Bushfire recovery

Bushfire recovery

Over the 2019-2020 period of wildlife care, many things changed. Our small group ‘SONA’ underwent changes that has not been experienced in the past. As a small group there was limited carers and no funding, so all costs were bore by individuals. After the fires, help came from many places here and overseas. The recovery process was long and hard especially in the Southern NSW fire effected areas. Many volunteers and SONA members assisted in the Green Valley fire area and worked tirelessly distributing feed to support the remaining wildlife in the bush. There was at one point 15 feed stations being used by remaining animals. This supply of feed and water that was distributed across the feed stations continued for 9 months until the bushland had recovered enough to support the remaining wildlife.

These fires changed the views of the public in regard to the dedication and care wildlife volunteers continuously exhibit on a day to day basis.
