29 Jan Beechworth Wildlife
In January 2020 Victoria’s north east became a victim of savage bushfires. Although our shelter was not directly harmed by the fire several other neighbouring shelters were. We were put in the position of taking many of the animals from those shelters. Our facilities at Beechworth were already at capacity and this put enormous strain on us. Our lack of fenced yards where animals could be kept was apparent. The Foundation for National Parks & Wildlife have very generously granted us the funds to build areas to safely keep many extra animals should such a scenario ever happen again. We are so grateful and appreciative to such a wonderful organisation, this will benefit ourselves and other shelters in the future. We thank you and so do all the wildlife you have helped.
